Michaela M. Moreno Luna ~ Diagnosed while Pregnant ~ Mommy and Baby are thriving
I was diagnosed with breast cancer and found out I was pregnant at the same time. I had my first surgery at 20 weeks and started chemotherapy 2 weeks later.
My son and I went through 9 rounds of chemotherapy before I had him at 38 weeks, two days after chemotherapy. I took 2 weeks off and finished 7 more rounds of chemotherapy, then 33 rounds of radiation, double mastectomy with tissue expanders, breast implant surgery, and several revisions.
I was reflecting on the first few months of my baby’s life and how grateful I am about the many videos and pictures taken. Pregnant with cancer is filled with a plethora of emotions. And your will to live becomes more important than it’s ever been before. Every day I’m alive is one more day I can watch my baby grow.
He has no idea all we’ve been through yet, and I can’t wait to share with him just how strong we fought! Thank you for highlighting our stories. I hope we can provide some hope and strength to others in our shoes.
Pictures above are every year on our chemo anniversary we also take a picture together.
